Radha gets a makeover in new Sholay
Radha, the role immortalised by Jaya Bachchan in Sholay is back. But both the look and the name are different in Ramgopal Verma’s remake of the classic Sholay.
Radha is now Durga played by Sushmita Sen and the white saree in the original has been replaced with black. While Radha had hardly spoken a few lines in Sholay, Durga is more vocal in the remake version.
A new era, a different look, a distinctive peg, Ramu Ki Sholay is one of the most awaited films of the year.
Amitabh Bachchan is the only member of the original cast of the 1975 classic to have bagged a part in the remake. And he is playing the villain Gabbar Singh, a role that had been given full justice by the late Amjad Khan in the original.
Will the new characters be able to make their way into the audience’s heart as the original one had? We will have to wait till August when the all-new Sholay releases.
